                                                         Plural nouns


                    The regular plural ending is -s: book - books,   pen - pens,   banana - bananas,   phone - phones.
                    Add -es after -o, -s, -ss, -ch, -sh, -x: tomato - tomatoes,   bus - buses,   glass - glasses,  peach - peaches,
                                                     dish - dishes,   box - boxes.

                           NOT BY THE RULE: piano - pianos,  photo - photos,  kangaroo - kangaroos,  radio - radios

                    Add -s after vowel + y: day - days,  toy - toys.
                    Change -f and -fe to -ves: thief - thieves,  knife - knives.
                    After consonant + y, change y to -ies: lady - ladies,  family - families.


                                            NOT BY THE RULE:  roof - roofs,  giraffe - giraffes
